Antigone of Associations 2025

The album explores heritage, love, commitment, and women's memories. Stripped down and bold, it relies on vocals and percussion, returning to the essentials: voice and rhythm. True to her Moroccan roots, Oum pays homage to traditional styles with a contemporary and poetic approach, driven by instruments and body percussion.

Opéra Comédie

In 2025, on the fifth anniversary of Christophe's passing, Bachar pays tribute to him, accompanied by his longtime collaborators: Dogan Poyraz on drums and Aleksander Angelov on bass. The trio hits the road again for a few exclusive dates, performing Christophe's unique repertoire for the Arabesques festival, much to our delight.

The Montpellier Occitanie National Orchestra makes its return with a Finnish conductor with a meteoric rise: Eva Ollikainen, winner of the Jorma Panula Competition and artistic director of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, conducts a program of contrasting brilliance.

Back-to-school concert

Conducting the concert is Eduardo Strausser: this Brazilian conductor, music director of the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra in Sweden, has already collaborated with prestigious ensembles, including the Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie. The concert opens with Lumina by Nina Shekhar, an American composer born in 1995, who explores the contrasts between light and darkness, between vibrant timbres and opaque textures – a tribute to light. Next comes the young South Korean prodigy Sarang Seohyun Kim, the youngest laureate, at 14 years old, of the Tibor Varga International Competition. She performs Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 , a luminous work of radiant classicism. Finally, Prokofiev's Symphony No. 7 (1952) offers a farewell imbued with gentle melancholy, in which the Russian composer tenderly revisits classical forms. From Mozart to the present day, a program that celebrates musical heritage in all its diversity.

Inaugurated in 1888, this magnificent Italian-style theater, located in the heart of Montpellier, is the work of architect Joseph-Marie Cassien-Bernard (1848–1926), a student of Charles Garnier. A lyric tragedy in five acts and a prologue. Composed in 1693 for the Royal Academy of Music, with a libretto by Thomas Corneille. Premiered on December 4, 1693 in Paris.

Medea

O Fortuna! Two words, a few notes, and an entire hall holds its breath. Composed in 1937 by Carl Orff to medieval Latin and Middle High German poems, Carmina Burana is one of the most frequently performed choral works in the world. A celebration of fortune, love, and the pleasures of life, it summons an orchestral and choral energy of extraordinary magnitude. For this production, director Anne Lopez imbues the stage with a powerful scenic vision, enhanced by Mathieu Cabanes' lighting. Conductor Roderick Cox leads the Orchestra and Chorus of the Opéra Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie, joined by the young voices of Opéra Junior and the Goyang Festival Choir from South Korea. Two hundred artists on stage, all dedicated to the same score. An event worthy of the work: total, collective, unforgettable.
