Sona Jobarteh Band
More details
Distinguished vocalist, activist and composer Sona Jobarteh is a living archive of the Gambian people. Born into a Griot family from The Gambia, she is the first woman within the tradition that dates back seven centuries to become a professional virtuoso on the kora. A modern-day griot, Jobarteh plays with an electric Afropop band performing songs about identity, love, and respect.
