As a teenager, he listened to a wide range of musicians, from southern rockers like Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Black Crowes, classic craftsmen like James Taylor and Johnny Cash, and ’90s country stars like Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson. Like many young men do in the working-class South, he started working construction jobs during the day and honing his musical chops at night. John started writing original songs but admits his first attempts were not very good. He moved to Nashville in his early 20’s to pursue a full-time music career. Through hard work and some lucky breaks, he has become an accomplished songwriter. Randy Houser and Hootie & the Blowfish both had chart-topping hits with songs written by King. He also released an album in 2021 titled Always Gonna Be You that contains all original songs. King, along with his ace band of musicians, are touring constantly, playing over 150 shows a year and building a loyal fan base one fan at a time. This young traditional country artist is making a name for himself in Nashville as a rising star and we are excited to introduce him to our Brauntex patrons.
