This program is bookended by Romantic masterpieces from Rimsky-Korsakov and Dvořák and, between the two, celebrates the great American composer, George Walker. Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol, with virtuoso cadenzas for solo instruments and sparklingly brilliant Spanish themes, was described by Tchaikovsky as “a colossal masterpiece of instrumentation.” In honor of George Walker’s centennial celebration, Sinfonia da Camera will then be joine...
