Join the Chicago Philharmonic in celebrating the students of Benito Juarez Community Academy as they perform in their end-of-the-semester band concert led by band director Leander Taylor! Through the Chicago Philharmonic’s AMP program, our musicians mentor, give masterclasses, and perform alongside Benito Juarez Academy students over the course of the semester. Mentors work on technical aspects of band and orchestra playing as well as emphasizing teamwork, collaboration, and creativity within both a musical and social setting. Students receive individualized attention from Chicago Philharmonic mentors and gain insight into the lives of orchestral musicians, allowing them to build relationships with mentors. This is followed-up by providing students and families tickets to Chicago Philharmonic concerts where students can see their mentors perform and further their connection with the Chicago music community.
