American Youth Symphony

When Mehli Mehta, Zubin’s father, first started the American Youth Symphony in 1964, he envisioned a place where a music student would get all the training she or he needed to become a professional. Successfully continuing that mission, AYS is tuition-free and open to all, based on talent alone. Each season, 250-300 applicants audition to fill an average of 30 open positions.
