Upper Valley Music Center

Join us at the Upper Valley Music Center for our engaging "Slow Jams" sessions, happening on alternating Fridays from 5:30-6:30 pm. These sessions are scheduled for September 15, October 13, November 10, December 8, January 12, February 9, March 8, April 12, and May 10. Whether you're joining in-person or online via Zoom, these low-pressure gatherings are open to musicians of all levels and acoustic instruments, offering a welcoming environment to play along to your favorite fiddle tunes at a gentle tempo.

Led by the talented Amy Cann and George Fowler, with occasional guest appearances, each session explores a rich variety of genres and styles, including Irish, New England, Quebecois, Old Time, and more. Participants are encouraged to come prepared to make a tune request either using the RSVP form or during the event itself. While we don’t prepare a list of tunes in advance, you can take a look at our tune list for a history of what’s been played at each session and our common tune list. Requests from these lists are most likely to be included, though we are always open to new tunes and will do our best to accommodate them.

The event is designed to be accessible to everyone, with payment being optional. Your voluntary contribution is greatly appreciated and helps keep the event free for newcomers and those unable to pay. For those interested in hybrid participation, complete the RSVP form to receive the Zoom link, allowing you to join us from the comfort of your home. Once you RSVP, you'll have access to the Zoom link for the entire semester.

This class is part of the UVMC’s Tuition Assistance Program, ensuring it remains free of charge for those unable to pay for any reason. A suggested amount for those who can contribute is $15 per session or $80 for the semester.
