The evening's program is a celebration of the wind repertoire, featuring the cherished Robert Reynolds transcription of Morten Lauridsen’s choral setting of "O magnum mysterium" as its centerpiece. The performance will also showcase works by Egil Hovland and Joan Tower, culminating in a piece by Northwestern alumnus Michael Martin, a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra trumpet section. His "Lontano: Symphony for Wind Ensemble," dedicated to Mallory Thompson and the ensemble, was premiered by the Symphonic Wind Ensemble in 2016 and returns to captivate audiences once more.
