Dr. Parr, who retired in 2001 after a distinguished 30-year career at the University of Texas at Dallas, was not only a respected Dean of Undergraduates but also a passionate chemist and researcher. His academic journey took him from UC Berkeley to Caltech, and beyond, engaging in postdoctoral work with Nobel Laureate John Polanyi. Dr. Parr's research, fondly described as a "molecular ballet," aimed to elucidate the intricate dance of atoms during chemical reactions.

The evening’s program will include the stirring "Sinfonietta" by L. Janacek, arranged by R. Sauer, and the majestic Symphony No. 8 in G Major by A. Dvorak, both promising to captivate and inspire. Following an intermission, the performance will conclude with Beethoven's exhilarating Symphony No. 7 in A Major, a fitting tribute to Dr. Parr's vibrant spirit and intellectual legacy.
