The Danish String Quartet, a favorite among Washington Performing Arts audiences, is celebrated for their cohesive sound, finesse, and precision. Their repertoire spans from the standard quartet literature to Nordic folk music, always delivered with a fresh and engaging approach.

For this special Terrace Theater performance, the Danish String Quartet will present a captivating program that includes classic works by Schubert—the beloved "Rosamunde" quartet and a quartet arrangement of the lied "Gretchen Am Spinnrade" ("Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel")—alongside a new work co-commissioned by Washington Performing Arts from the esteemed contemporary Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir. This new piece, "Rituals 2023," promises to be a masterly entrance to the genre, creating a vast soundscape with just four acoustic instruments.
