Through elegant musicality and an insightful approach to both contemporary and established repertoire, Jean-Yves Thibaudet has earned a reputation as one of the world’s finest pianists. On this program he plays Debussy’s complete Préludes, each inspired by a poetic quote—from “Dances of Delphi,” to “The Sunken Cathedral,” to “Fireworks.” Thibaudet first recorded the Préludes in 1996, but he says “playing them in their entirety in a concert had been an unrealized dream of mine for many, many years.”

"Buscando América" offers a deep dive into the musical connections between Latin and North America, showcasing an exciting blend of rhythms and harmonies. The Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble will perform a repertoire that highlights the rich relationships between these two musical idioms, extending far beyond the basic fusion of Latin rhythms with jazz harmonies. Attendees can expect an evening filled with Cuban Carnival, Cuban Songo, Motown, Bebop, Blues, Funk, and vocal jazz ballads, among other styles. This concert promises to be a vibrant celebration of music that will engage your senses and perhaps even get you moving to the beat.

Doors to the lobby open at 6:30 PM, with the performance beginning promptly at 7:30 PM. Stanford University students can enjoy free admission, with one ticket available per ID starting one hour before the show at the venue. 

For those planning to attend, Dinkelspiel Auditorium is located at 471 Lagunita Drive on the Stanford campus. Parking is free in metered and lettered parking zones on weekdays after 4:00 PM and on weekends at all times. Weekday parking is also available for a fee in the Tresidder parking lot.
