Since the formation of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra by Claudio Abbado in 2003, musicians from the MCO have formed the core of this group. During this summer's festival, around 20 MCO musicians will take part in four orchestra concerts. Out of these four concerts, two will actually center around musical events taking place in the German city of Leipzig during the 19th century - and this is one of them.
