This enchanting evening will take place at the prestigious KKL Luzern, starting at 18:30. Presented by the Lucerne Festival, this concert promises an unforgettable experience for classical music enthusiasts.

The program for the evening features two monumental pieces: C. Schumann's Piano Concerto and A. Bruckner's Symphony No. 7, edited by Leopold Nowak. The talented Beatrice Rana will grace the stage with her piano performance, under the baton of the esteemed conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, leading the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

This concert is not just a performance but a celebration of musical mastery and history. Beatrice Rana, who made her debut at Lucerne in 2017 with the LFO, returns to perform Clara Schumann's only piano concerto, a piece composed in her early teens and premiered by herself in 1833. The evening will also pay homage to Anton Bruckner's Seventh Symphony, his most successful work, first conducted by Arthur Nikisch in 1884. This symphony, especially known for its slow second movement composed in anticipation of Richard Wagner's death, showcases Bruckner's deep admiration for Wagner through its harmonic colouring and the use of Wagner tubas.

Since its formation by Claudio Abbado in 2003, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra has seen musicians from the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) form its core. This summer, around 20 MCO musicians will participate in four orchestra concerts, continuing the tradition of excellence. The collaboration between Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the MCO, including a highly acclaimed recording of W.A. Mozart's opera Don Giovanni, highlights the deep musical connection and shared history on the Lucerne Festival stage.
