The Hollywood Bowl transforms into Shakespeare’s magical forest when Gustavo Dudamel leads Mendelssohn’s whimsical incidental music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Complete with projections on the Bowl’s shell and a narrator to be announced, the piece casts a musical spell, filled with drama, fairies, and more than a little comedy. Spanish pianist Javier Perianes plays with “a combination of evident modesty and utter brilliance” (The Sunday Times)...
