Join us at the CBSO Centre for an enchanting afternoon with the National Youth String Orchestra (NYSO) on Saturday, 24 August 2024, at 3:00pm. This special event, presented by NYSO and not directly affiliated with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, showcases the incredible talent of young string players up to the age of 21 from across the nation. Under the baton of Music Director Damian Iorio, the orchestra will conclude their annual summer residency with a captivating program featuring string orchestra classics by Tchaikovsky, Bartók, and Webern.

The concert promises an immersive experience into the world of classical music with a lineup that includes Webern's "Five Movements, Opus 5," Bartók's "Divertimento, Opus BB 118," and Tchaikovsky's "Souvenir de Florence, Opus 70." These pieces, lasting 12, 25, and 35 minutes respectively, will transport the audience through a range of emotions and showcase the exceptional skills of the young musicians.

The event, set to last two hours including a 20-minute interval, is a testament to the dedication and passion of these young performers. They benefit from personalized coaching by a dedicated team of leading chamber orchestra musicians during their residencies at Easter and summer, culminating in this performance.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £7.50 for those under 17, making it an accessible event for all to enjoy the future of classical music. Refreshments, including a selection of delicious cakes and hot drinks, will be available for purchase up to an hour before the performance begins.
