One of the greatest cellists of her generation, MacArthur “genius” award winner Alisa Weilerstein probes the emotional caves and corners of Elgar’s great masterpiece. For the second half, the exciting new music director of the San Diego Symphony, Rafael Payare, revels in lush, colorful French repertoire.
