Pianist Evgeny Kissin was born in 1971, and by the age of two was playing by ear and improvising on the family piano. He made his Western debut in 1987, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and has been a favorite of audiences around the world ever since. “So compelling is Kissin’s pianism, so fresh his response to even the most familiar phrases, that one hangs on every note”.
