Dunedin Consort

The Dunedin Consort, a distinguished ensemble in the Baroque music realm, will present Johann Sebastian Bach's St John Passion, BWV 245. Known for their vibrant and historically informed performances, the Dunedin Consort has earned acclaim under the artistic direction of John Butt. The ensemble, named after the ancient Celtic name for Edinburgh Castle, Din Eidyn, is celebrated for its dedication to blending historical authenticity with contemporary musical expressions. Their performances have graced prestigious venues such as the BBC Proms, Wigmore Hall, and the Edinburgh and Lammermuir Festivals, earning them two Gramophone Awards and a Grammy nomination.

In this performance, the Dunedin Consort will bring to life Bach's profound and emotionally charged St John Passion. The ensemble's approach to the score is both scholarly and heartfelt, ensuring a deeply moving musical experience. The performance will feature John Butt as director, with Jess Dandy as mezzo-soprano, Nicholas Mulroy as Evangelist and arias, Robert Davies as Pilate, and Matthew Brook as Christus and arias.
