For Mahler, to write a symphony was to build a world, and his “Resurrection” Symphony is no exception to the rule. Created in five movements, the monumental work calls on an imposing orchestral lineup, a chorus, solo voice and an organ. Mahler needed no less to express his vision of the world; whence the epic character of the work.
