Percussionist José Moncayo filled his Huapango with the popular music heard around the Gulf of Mexico. Frank opens her “Dances” with what she calls “an unabashed tribute” to the urban jungle evoked in Bernstein’s West Side Story. TWELVE percussionists pack the stage for Revueltas’ rhythmic, dynamic, and booming piece!
