Get ready for a real Christmas adventure when we present the Christmas ballet above them all, namely Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker.
It is Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum family, and daughter Clara is anxiously waiting to see the beautiful Christmas tree and open the many presents. But the handsome nutcracker she gets as a present from her uncle is not quite normal, because when the clock strikes twelve, the whole living room is transformed, and Clara is sucked into a genuine Christmas adventure, where she and the nutcracker must fight against the mouse king and the Snow Queen before they can head for the slafferland made of candy and populated by toys.

We're jumping into the new year with a sparkling Viennese waltz, brilliant musical hits and plenty of great entertainment in the company of two guests who always bring pure joy and a fantastic atmosphere to the Concert Hall. So you can rest assured that you can put your New Year's resolutions on hold and get ready to party when the music, confetti and champagne once again bubble over the Concert Hall.

Experience an entire evening bathed in the most magnificent key of them all: E flat major, as we kick off the symphonic year with a tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven, who will be duly celebrated around the world next season on the 200th anniversary of his death.

At the first Pro Musica concert of the year, the musicians of the Odense Symphony Orchestra take the audience on a journey through three centuries of chamber music history; from the inventor of the string quartet to the most beloved clarinet quintet of the high romantic period to a quintet from one of the greatest pioneers of the 20th century. In Haydn's stormy and ambitious late quartet, for example, we can look forward to the "witch's minuet" in two-part canon. Prokofiev's circus-inspired quintet from 1924 for the sonically motley combination of oboe, clarinet, violin, viola and double bass is the most whimsical piece of music you will hear in a long time. It was written for a traveling ballet troupe under the title Trapeze, but achieved immortality as a six-movement, picturesque quintet.

Faith, hope and love – the classic virtues – stand perhaps stronger than ever as landmarks in a troubled time.

From the very first second ofBruckner's 4th Symphonyhe conjures us out of our earthly shell and into a world of mystery, of euphony, of overwhelming currents and enormous constructions. Bruckner's music is 'larger than life', but his 4th symphony is the most welcoming of all his great symphonies and a good place to start if you still have your first Bruckner experience to enjoy. He takes us from outer space to the very deepest place in the heart of the ball when he builds his enormous musical sequences, which switch surprisingly effortlessly from great drama to subtle intimacy. Organ virtuoso that he was, he uses the orchestra as a gigantic luxury organ, which in a split second can switch from the finest little Austrian folk melody to terrifying cascades of sound - produced with an orchestra that is not much larger than in Beethoven's time, but which uses the entire register in new and surprising ways.

Bruckner's 4th Symphony

Several composers who lived in the Soviet era turned to a spiritually inspired music, in a kind of inner exile. There are several examples; the Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks is one of them. Throughout his work there is a special spiritual tone. Castillo Interior is from 2014, and he says that the title came to him when he was in a meditation house by the Baltic Sea – inspired by a saint far away, the Spanish Teresa of Avila, who in the 16th century wrote a book with the same title, where the soul is described as a castle created from a single diamond.
