More details
Ordinary women become working class heroes in this true story of the Atlanta 1881 Washerwomen Strike, America's first successful interracial organized labor strike. Tired of being overworked and underpaid, Black laundresses stage a strike just weeks before the International Cotton Expedition comes to town. The story gives us an intimate and often humorous peek at the women who fought for their rights and won.
