Ruth Goller is an electric bass player and composer, originally from Italy but now based in the UK. TDE promotions believe her to be one of the most creative musicians in Europe, and we are delighted to present her in two fascinating sets.

The Skylla project existed a couple of years ago as a group that featured Ruth with two other vocalists. Now she has adapted the project with just her on bass guitar and vocals plus a drummer doubling on electronics. On this occasion the drummer will be Berlin-based Max Andrzejewski.

Although born with the open road in his blood, Prefab Sprout appear to have had a forty-year aversion to playing live and he hopes these new shows “40 YEARS: A VERSION” will address his gigging addiction.

The performance showcases the impressive physicality of elite dancers Travis Clausen-Knight and James Pett whose creative ambitions were originally sparked during their long-standing careers dancing with Company Wayne McGregor. Their maker-performer partnership as PCK Dance has taken them all over the world to dance a remarkable body of commissioned choreography. In London their work has been performed on the main stage of Sadler’s Wells and most recently in Ballet Nights at the Lanterns Studio Theatre.

Birmingham songwriter Katy Rose Bennett will present live for the first time a new collection of deeply emotional songs created from the words of renowned Scottish poet Donna Ashworth. Katy set to work crafting a powerful collection of songs due for release in early 2025 - an album created here at MAC’s very own recording studios.

Nick Cope has been writing and recording his beautiful and totally unique songs for children and their families for over 10 years, he performs with his guitar and stunning animations to sell-out crowds all over the country.

Local heroes The Destroyers celebrate 20 years of legendary live shows with their raucous genre-colliding blend of klezmer, Balkan and British folk. Support comes from intergalactic groove merchants Diddy Sweg bringing a pop-jazz-funk bonanza of deep grooves and joyful chaos.

Amongst drifting waterweed and ancient moss-covered rocks the pond is teeming with life. Newts, snails, tiny minnows and bigger fish all go about their business as usual.

However, strange things have started to appear from above. Things that haven’t grown out of the squelchy mud or been born among the boulders. Things that clinker, clatter and clutter up the pond. There’s now so much of it, the inhabitants are starting to run out of space to swim, slither and play. This underwater world is in need of change. And this is where a little watersprite awakens.

Friends of Cannon Hill Park History Walk

Beginning in an imaginary cool stream where rain falls gently, audiences are led by three dancers through a vibrant city river into the expanse of the ocean. As they follow the river’s journey, the audience actively participate in the movement whilst they learn how water shapes the landscape.

Divanhana are a modern sevdah group from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Formed in 2009 by a group of students from the Music Academy in Sarajevo, the band performs traditional music from the Balkans in their new, distinctive arrangements influenced by jazz, pop and classical music.

When 30-year-old Rona’s alcoholism causes the dissolution of her long-term relationship with Daynin and derails her promising career in biology, she leaves her ragged London life to dry out where she grew up, in Orkney. On her father’s farm, she begins to inch towards inner peace and sobriety, while tackling some hard truths about his bipolarity and why her mother left for the mainland.

Prosecuted for a triple murder during the armed robbery of a Parisian pharmacy, Goldman, the rebellious son of Polish-Jewish immigrants, whose father was also a decorated Resistance fighter, refused to call any witnesses to his character. Politically on the far left and defiantly Jewish in his identity, Goldman accused the police of institutional antisemitism and racism, and of conspiring to convict him of a crime of which he was innocent.

‘Lucid Dreamers’ premiered at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall as a trio with Brigitte Beraha, George Crowley and Tim Giles in November 2019 as part of the London Jazz Festival, with music written by Brigitte and inspired by the industrial world that we live in.

Extended to a quartet with Alcyona Mick on piano, they released ‘Lucid Dreamers’ on Let Me Out Records in July 2020, with the follow up 'Blink' in May 2022 which they toured in the UK and Europe.

Pete Williams was a founding member of Dexy's Midnight Runners and a pivotal force in their recent resurgence as Dexy's. He is a true Midlands music legend.

The band have opened for The Specials, headlined at the Lunar Stage at Moseley Folk Festival and performed a sold-out show at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Singer and bouzouki player Daoirí Farrell has won two prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and four nominations in Ireland’s RTÉ Folk Awards.

He has since toured across the world, as well as with the all-star Transatlantic Sessions in major venues across the UK and in the USA as guest vocalist for Lúnasa.
