The Conservatoire's December Delights: Art and Music Extravaganza

The Conservatoire's magical interpretation of this Christmas classic returns, perfect for families to get into the festive spirit. Join soprano Mairead Sheerin, flautist Klio Blonz and pianist Grace Mo in this family concert of spoken word, piano and flute. Get lost in the magic of Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, Mouse King and Nutcracker himself.

Work with renowned local florist Stephanie Noblet-Waithe, owner of the Flower Shoppe, to learn the art of wreath making and create a beautiful creation of natural materials to adorn your front door and impress your friends and neighbours! Wash it all down with a delicious homemade mince pie and aromatic mulled wine.

Valerija Iljin will be coming in with pianist Daniel Peter Silcock to perform a concert named Dream; with repertoire by Rachmaninoff, Strauss, Puccini, Dove and others.

Take The Waitresses' album off the shelf... it's time for some Christmas Wrapping! Do you never see the styles you want in the shops when hunting for your Christmas cards? Do you want to go eco this year and stay away from plastic glitter when you wrap your presents? Then join our printmaking workshop to create your own Christmas cards, wrapping paper, and labels! Guided by expert tutor Catherine, you'll design your own beautiful linocuts and print them, creating some own-brand Christmas paper goods to impress your family. This is the perfect way to get in the festive mood!

Ben Ramsden will be playing Antipodes; his new piano sonata combining piano and electronics to explore the full spectrum of human emotions. Each movement contrasts two opposing states, forming an emotive and transcendental musical journey. The piece runs for about 40 minutes.

Join us for Prokofiev's symphonic tale for children, Peter and the Wolf, performed by a woodwind quintet, including some of our wonderful tutors. This 30-minute event will include a 15 minute performance and 15 minutes of musical games and discussion, including introductions of the instruments and animals. We look forward to seeing you at this fantastic introduction to classical music.
