A Theatrical Journey Through Festive Fantasies: Scunthorpe's 2024-2025 Performance Season

This year's Christmas show, performed to raise funds for North Lincolnshire Mind, will be The Wednesday Singers usual mixture of song, comedy and dance. However this year we will be including a panto, to be delivered in the traditional Wednesday Singers style, with plenty of humour and songs; this will be Christmas in Pantoland, an original story for all to enjoy.

Coming to prominence as the frontman and driving force of the eclectic American Rap/Rock outfit Fun Lovin' Criminals, he led the band from 1993 - 2021. Best known for the hit record Scooby Snacks, Fun Lovin' Criminals released 6 albums between 1996 and 2010 and sold over 10 million records. As host of The Huey Show on BBC Radio 6 since 2008, Morgan is a cherished voice on national radio in the UK, where he hosts a mix of Hip Hop, Soul, Punk, Funk, Rock and everything in between, to his listeners.

“Since they made their album debut back in 2010, Police Dog Hogan have been building a reputation as one of the country's finest live bands and folk-country acts”, said Folk Radio in 2022.

After the release of their album Overground - which spent 4 weeks on the UK Folk albums chart - Police Dog Hogan returned to steady touring, with dates taking them across the UK. The band also spent much of 2023 in the studio, releasing regular new singles to streaming platforms.

Brothers Patrick and Gregory Kane formed Hue and Cry in 1983 and the duo made a huge impact in the late 80's with the single Labour of Love, and albums Seduced and Abandoned, and Remote, which was released to not only huge acclaim but to multi-platinum success, spawning the singles Ordinary Angel, Violently and Looking for Linda. Albums like Stars Crash Down and Jazz Not Jazz ensured Hue and Cry's continued triumph in the 1990's, whilst the release of the hugely applauded Open Soul in 2008 brought them firmly back into the limelight.

FRESH is a celebration of youth dance in the Yorkshire and Humber region and Scunthorpe Theatres are proud to host the Northern Lincolnshire showcase.

Performers aged 11-19 are given the opportunity to perform on a professional stage in front of a judging panel. Groups who enter FRESH could be selected to represent the region at the national U-Dance platform organised annually by One Dance UK.

While performing their two-man show The Meeting, the pair were spotted by Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, TV producers who were developing an as-then untitled E4 sitcom about four hapless sixth-formers, chronicling their various misadventures.
