The Orchester der Oper Zürich starts the concert season under a new, old name. After thirteen years as Philharmonia Zurich, the orchestra will return to its original moniker. The Philharmonic Concerts will once again alternate between the Opernhaus and the Tonhalle Zürich.

Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund thrilled as Brünnhilde in the new Zurich Ring des Nibelungen, and now she returns to Zurich as Senta. Her stage partner here is Tomasz Koniezcny, who will sing the title role in this revival and who celebrated his own triumph in the Zurich Ring when he took the stage as Wotan. General Music Director Gianandrea Noseda, meanwhile, showed with the Zurich Ring that he is a fantastic Wagner conductor. He now takes over the musical direction of this revival production.

Hanna Glawari is the woman around whom everything revolves: emancipated, beautiful, intelligent, and the heiress of 20 million. Desired in Paris, she is destined for only one man, who simply cannot bring himself to utter the words "I love you." Director Barrie Kosky staged this ambiguous and successful early modern operetta with great opulence. Alongside quirky slapstick and revue flair, he highlights the waltz-infused nostalgia and the emotional depth of the piece. Soprano Diana Damrau makes her role debut in the title role in this revival.
