Queens Theatre Spotlight: Celebrating Art, Music, and Dance in 2025

After a challenging hiatus, Queens Theatre is making a vibrant comeback with three thrilling events: RIOULT Dance New York's energetic performances, the family adventure of Pete the Cat, and the diverse culmination of the Queensboro Dance Festival. After a summerlong outdoor tour across the borough, the Queensboro Dance Festival culminates on the stage of the Claire Shulman Theater as a 3-show Grand Finale!

For Pete the Cat, life is an adventure no matter where you wind up. So the minute the groovy blue cat meets The Biddles, he gets the whole family rocking. That is, except for young Jimmy Biddle, the most organized second grader on planet Earth. But when Jimmy draws a blank in art class during the last week of school, it turns out Pete is the perfect pal to help him out. Together, they set out on a mission to help Jimmy conquer second grade art, and along the way, they both learn a little something new about inspiration. Following a triumphant three week summer residency at The Joyce Theatre in New York, Pilobolus's re:CREATION tour embarks on a nationwide journey, bringing their celebrated collection of repertory to delighted audiences from coast to coast. re:CREATION is a transformative odyssey of reinvention where both audience and artists rediscover, redefine, and recreate timeless narratives through new visions of history, myth, and the innate human need for expression.

Now in their 14th year of performing to raise funds for Long Island’s hungry, Will Sing For Food brings their high-energy charity concert to Queens Theatre. Will Sing For Food spans decades and genres and produces an eclectic mix of classics and modern favorites. The event will be hosted by Long Island Cares, Inc. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Will Sing For Food has been performing all around Long Island in concert venues and at east end wineries, and the group is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the show — and most importantly, awareness of their cause — to the big stage at Queens Theatre.

With the help of a virtuosic, tight-knit ensemble who embody a few dozen characters, live foley artistry and a dynamic trio performing 1940’s style holiday music, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. This holiday season, join us for a story that underscores the power of community and the idea that every life has meaning and purpose. It’s A Wonderful Life is a joyous tale of heaven, humanity and hope as big as all of Bedford Falls.

The original storybook heroines are none-too-happy with the way they’ve been portrayed in today’s pop culture so they’ve tossed their tiaras and have come to life to set the record straight. Forget the princesses you think you know – these royal renegades are here to comically belt out the truth.

Don't miss WQXR's FREE Classical Kids Fair - returning to Queens Theatre for its third year! Join us for a fun-filled day of live performances, an instrument “petting zoo,” dance and songwriting workshops, arts & crafts, and more, in partnership with a range of cultural institutions and artists.
