Four siblings, a string quartet: can that work? Or, to put it the other way around: when the children of the Russian-French Tchalik family of musicians got angry, loud, maybe even violent, did they cross their bows or play a wild piece of new music together? We don't know the answer, but we will meet the award-winning Quatuor Tchalik live. And with new music, too, which is embedded between works by Mozart and Schubert. The contemporary accent is provided by the German premiere of Scènes de Bal by Thierry Escaich. He is now a well-known French organist and composer, but initially played a lot of tango as an accordionist, and you can hear that in these colorful dance scenes. Most of the time, however, will be taken up by what Schumann once praised as "heavenly lengths": music by Schubert. Death and the Maiden , a piece about transience, composed in the death key of D minor.
