Semple grew up on a farm north of Regina, Saskatchewan. He started his musical career playing with various Regina-based bands, and later relocated to Toronto in the late 1980s to become the lead guitarist of The Lincolns, a popular funk and rhythm and blues band. He left the band after two years and returned to Regina to pursue a solo career and to spend more time with his family. After his move back to Regina, Semple contributed to television and music scores and appeared in the title role of Guitarman, a 1994 television movie. Semple also commenced a solo recording career that has resulted in the release of ten albums. In 1992, Semple came to national prominence through winning the MuchMusic “Guitar Wars” contest. Semple has been twice nominated, in 1999 and 2000, for a Gemini Award for his soundtrack work on the television series Incredible Story Studio. Semple won a Juno award in 1991 for best roots recording. He has won two Western Canadian music awards for “Qu’Appelle” and “In the Blue Light”. Semple continues to perform as a solo artist and with The Jack Semple Band, across Canada and now being championed across America!

Music lovers in Vermilion are in for a treat as the Vermilion Allied Arts 2024/25 Series’ first performer of its four-show season kicks off with local talent Amber Bauer and rising star Abygale Durie on Saturday, October 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alumni Theatre at Lakeland College.

Amber Bauer, a Vermilion native, has been honing her musical skills since childhood, with deep musical roots nurtured by her parents, Bonnie and Stan Bauer. Bonnie, who taught music at Vermilion Elementary School for 35 years, was also a personal music instructor, while Stan is a versatile multi-instrumentalist. Amber’s love for music blossomed early, starting at just five years old under her mother’s guidance.

REDEFINING WONDER is an engaging and visceral multimedia family experience where Chris tells his story about how he integrated his love for music and magic in a show unlike any other. Presenting a violin concerto, guitar loops and one-of-a-kind multi-instrument illusion live on stage has put this show into a league of its own. His show has garnered a reputation for excellence earning him headline status his touring magic production like Master of Illusions Live.

Enchanting audiences in British Columbia for many years as a musician and theater artist, Jack Garton’s show is a rocking, sultry and fresh blend of folk and roots, steeped heavily in the rockabilly and doo-wop that were his first musical loves. Jack has performed solo and with many beloved bands and theatre companies throughout North America and Europe, featuring soon in the Firehall Arts Centre’s production of Chelsea Hotel: The Songs Of Leonard Cohen (Feb 2024). Fresh from recording a new original full-length album with Vancouver surf legends Kitty and the Rooster, to be released December 2023, Jack is excited to be bringing this strong, honest and vulnerable collection of songs to audiences everywhere.
