The Kanyen'kéha (Mohawk) word skén:nen (Sgah:nah) translates to mean peace and balance. On the edge of collapse in an uncertain and imbalanced reality, SKéN:NEN is set in an imagined post-environmental-catastrophe. We witness the journey of a young Kahnyen’kehàka girl and other climate survivors who need to revitalize humanity’s interconnectedness with an environment in recovery. For the young girl this means remembering her rites of passage and learning from the earth.

The Musical Box takes audiences on an emblematic recreation of renowned British progressive-rock band Genesis during their 1973 tour by using original instruments and impactful visual scenes. 

The Musical Box were formed in 1993 in Montreal, Quebec in Canada, and take their name from the song of the same name from Genesis's third studio album, Nursery Cryme (1971), the first album featuring the classic lineup which The Musical Box now portrays. Founding member and musical director, bassist Sébastien Lamothe, advertised in local newspapers for musicians who were Genesis fans to play in the band. The group performs replicating members and sounds of Genesis and incorporates visual effects and costumes that were a part of the band’s original shows.

Kuné (which means together in Esperanto) is an eleven-piece collective made up of ten immigrant musicians from all over the world and one Metis-Canadian. Elisapie was born and raised in Salluit, a small village in Nunavik (the northern region of Quebec). In this community, accessible only by plane, Elisapie was raised by an extended caring, yet slightly dysfunctional, adoptive family. Growing up there she lived through the loss of cousins who ended their lives, experienced young love, witnessed first hand the effects of colonialism, and danced the night away at the village’s community center.

Since winning her first Juno Award in 2005 with Taima, her band at the time, Elisapie’s body of work has been frequently praised. Her 2018 album The Ballad of the Runaway Girl was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, earned her numerous Félix Awards, and received a nomination at the Junos. Soweto Gospel Choir was formed in South Africa in 2002, and is an ensemble of over 30 members whose music blends elements of African gospel, Negro spirituals, reggae and American popular music. The Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated group performed at Nelson Mandela's first of 46664 anti-AIDS benefit concerts—and has since toured internationally several times.

Their albums Blessed, African Spirit, and Freedom won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album in 2006, 2007 and 2019, respectively.

As the saying goes ‘all good things must come to an end' and so it is with Lunch At Allen's, who embarked on a country-wide Farewell Tour, that began in Atlantic Canada last October. Coming together in 2004, for what was meant to be a one-off 8-date tour presented as a song-writer's circle, the four renowned artists discovered a soul-warming  joie de vivre in performing together ... and so began 20 years of camaraderie touring the country coast to coast.

Celebrate the spirit of Southern Rock with a night of classic hits and hidden gems from this legendary era. At the heart of it all are The Cooper Brothers—veterans of the genre—joined by award-winning musicians Suzie McNeil and Spencer Mackenzie for a powerhouse tribute you won’t want to miss.

The Cooper Brothers first gained international attention when they signed with Capricorn Records (famous for producing several of the most popular southern-rock acts of the time including The Allman Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band, Delbert McClinton and Elvin Bishop). Over the next few years the Cooper Brothers released two albums under the Capricorn label, the self-titled, The Cooper Brothers and Pitfalls of the Ballroom. Both albums sold extremely well and the singles “The Dream Never Dies”, “Rock and Roll Cowboys” and “I’ll Know Her When I See Her” all charted on The Billboard Hot 100.

Mozart’s Requiem forms the centrepiece of our season opener, our first concert under the baton of Artistic Director Kathleen Allan. In the completion by Robert Levin, we explore the mysterious history of the Requiem while presenting a performance that features the beloved moments the piece is known for. In the first half, Brahms’ Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny), sometimes referred to as the “Little Requiem,” highlights the struggle of humankind with a fearless optimism. The concert opens with the world premiere of a new arrangement by Leslee Heys of her composition, All Shall Be Well, a meditative affirmation of resilience.

Honeymoon Suite, formed in Niagara Falls in 1981 quickly became a staple of Canadian rock. Their self-titled 1984 debut, featuring hits like "New Girl Now" and "Burning In Love," launched them into the spotlight. The band gained international recognition with "Feel It Again" from their equally successful 1986 album, The Big Prize. Known for their catchy melodic rock and powerful vocals, they secured a Juno Award for Group of the Year in 1986.

James Barker Band is proof that big dreams can grow from small-town roots. Fueled by friendship, grit, and a shared love for storytelling, the band has gone from local dive bars to headlining stages across North America and Europe, amassing over 295 million global streams, multiple No. 1 hits, and the unwavering devotion of fans along the way. 

The band's big break came in 2015 at the Emerging Artist Showcase at Boots and Hearts Music Festival, where their raw talent and undeniable charm earned them the top prize. That victory was a launchpad, leading to a record deal with Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company, and the release of their breakout single, "Lawn Chair Lazy," in 2017. The laid-back anthem quickly gained traction and earned Platinum certification, but it was just the beginning.

Celebrate Robert Cooper’s 35th anniversary, and farewell season of artistic leadership, with the grand emotional span of Bach’s magnum opus Mass in B Minor. Majestic in its complexity and sweep, Bach’s transcendent Mass in B Minor is undoubtedly his most spectacular choral work with its sizzling choruses, sublime solos and virtuoso orchestral ensembles rendering it one of the most joyous of musical experiences in the western choral canon.

The Oscar Peterson Centennial Quartet celebrates the life and music of Oscar Peterson, one of Canada’s most iconic musical figures. This exceptional ensemble showcases renowned Canadian talent, featuring JUNO Award winners Robi Botos (piano), Mike Downes (bass) and Jim Doxas (drums), alongside renowned guitarist Ulf Wakenius, a ten-year veteran of the Oscar Peterson Quartet. Special guest pianist Justin Kauflin will take the stage for this centennial celebration performance. Other guest artists include Lex French (trumpet), Andrew McAnsh (trumpet), Colleen Allen (saxophone), and Matt Woroshyl (saxophone). During the evening, Peterson’s youngest daughter, Céline Peterson, will join the band to offer the audience an intimate, anecdote-filled look into her father’s remarkable life and career.

Our concert culminates in Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, bringing the poetry of George Herbert to life in a deeply expressive setting for baritone, choir, and strings. Performed with strings and piano, this is a concert of rich harmonies, driving rhythms, and spiritual revelation.

Featuring a multicultural cast of dancers and musicians, the show displays a tapestry of global and eclectic influences of Indian popular music from the 1950s until now: jazz inspired by Benny Goodwin, to the 60s sound of the Beatles, to Disco and beyond. It’s The Red Hot Chilli PIPERS – (NOT the Peppers!) — a 9-piece ensemble consisting of pipers, guitarists, keyboards, and drummers — who have been rocking the world from New York to Beijing to Melbourne and everywhere in between with musicianship of the highest order and a passion for pipes that will leave you breathless. The band has four music degrees from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and all the pipers and drummers have played at the top level in bagpiping.

It was Paul Simon’s 1986 Graceland album that introduced Ladysmith Black Mambazo to the world. The late former South African President Nelson Mandela designated the group “South Africa’s cultural ambassadors to the world,” a title the members carry with them with the highest honour. In 2018 the group received not one, but two Grammy Award nominations for two separate albums, a first in the history of World Music.

In 1994 in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, Thomas Lauderdale was working in politics, with the intention of eventually running for office. Like other eager politicians-in-training, he went to every political fundraiser under the sun… but was dismayed to find the music at these events underwhelming, lackluster, loud and un-neighborly. Drawing inspiration from music from all over the world – crossing genres of classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop – and hoping to appeal to conservatives and liberals alike, he founded the “little orchestra” Pink Martini in 1994 provide more beautiful and inclusive musical soundtracks for political fundraisers for causes such as civil rights, affordable housing, cleaning up the Willamette River, funding for libraries, public broadcasting, education and parks.
