Delving into her Trinidadian roots and her father’s influence for this piece, Samantha “Sam I Am Montolla” Hinds  explores the steel percussion known as the “Iron”. Through this piece, she aims to deepen familial bonds and cultural understanding by learning to play the instrument and its rhythms. She combines her beat making skills to video, live music production and performance – blending tradition with modern artistic techniques. Through experimentation, collaboration and improvisation, Samantha navigates the complexities of identity and tradition, seeking to authentically learn, share and perform.

Between perpetual construction and collapse, two performers and some 250 bricks form ephemeral landscapes together. Their encounter traces fragments of houses to inhabit, which in turn fragment the performers’ bodies. Like a living mortar, the movement pours into the interstices of the installation. Conceived as sentient beings, the bricks enter in dialogue with the bodies. Within this evanescent dance, the performers appear and disappear into the material they’re engaging with, opening up a space for reflection on how we build and live in a transforming world.

In a long spectral corporeal poem, Gui B.B engages in a complex exploration of her experience with debt. She delves into how it is both endured and fought within her own body. The artist establishes a symbolic trans space where she reclaims ambiguity, uncertainty, hyper-vulnerability, and chaos. Thus, she invites us into a haunted space where she confronts the inherent precarity of her indebted life, transforming it into a vital force. Along the way, she exudes her own ghost, offering her body as a sacrifice as it fails to be more than just a system.

In this symphonic fusion of long duration, blending dance, improvisation and live-action role-playing, a universe unfolds in the hands of numerous worldbuilders. Avatars CLAIR and LEO freely traverse the ALTERMUNDI across three imaginary landscapes – a futuristic desert, a Space Western village and a racing track. In their unrestrained escapades, they embody a myriad of spirits, categorized into two archetypes: the “wise”; holders of knowledge, and the “fools”; liberated from intellectual constraints.

In the exploratory phase of this new piece which conjures the ambiance of an existential thriller, the artists delve into disorientation through the spatialization of sound. Influenced by the author's transgender identity, the project explores existential themes, causing identity to oscillate in a ballet of unsettling images and fleeting déjà-vus.

Presented under the forms of distinct, striking capsules, this work-in-progress explores the broad question of identity, and its ever-changing nature. Nubian Néné is on a quest to face herself and comprehend her mind by exploring the effects of mental health on her creativity. The doubts experienced as a Black Woman Artist have plunged her into a whirlwind of emotions. The effects: anxiety, depression and low self-esteem, the result: developing coping mechanisms, and a healing system. The questions: How does one cope with the spiraling episodes of doubt and despair? What place does community have in the healing practice?

In the form of a complex video and audio arrangement, this laboratory is a sensory representation of a descent into the depths of anxiety, depression, and an exploration of the border with suicide through the eyes of those who love us. In the surrounding darkness, indescribable forms mingle with people. However, a ray of light pierces the shadows, their pallid skin, their dark circles, and their tracksuits clinging to their bodies. An overwhelming silence, like an unbearable pressure vibrating the eardrums; drowning a little more each day; a beached whale.

“Either you’re the boss de tes bécosses, or you’re a carrier of civilization!”, announces an upside-down owl to a poet from Hoch’lag. This laboratory attests to the first encounter between a member of the Wendat Nation and her culture. Woven throughout with the wisdom of the Indigenous medicine wheel, this street poetry piece merges supernatural universes, biographical narrative, citizen speech, dance, storytelling, and experimental music. The artist shares the complexity of her search for meaning – in this new engagement with her origins – within apocalyptical times. This multidimensional and disconcerting experience is, for the first time, given voice and embodiment by the author.

The incense burns, opening a passage beyond time and space that unveils our memory. Before it closes, Mecdy’s soul, still in the ether, must decide who his parents are. In this meditative solo, the artist lets dance respond to his inquiries. Whether alone or facing an opponent in a battle, on stage or in nature, Mecdy dedicates himself to reach communion through the state of trance. To the rhythm of his energizing breath and hypnotic percussion, he shares the therapeutic effects of his movements.
