Cath Ruane is a passionate photographer who hails from Kirkcaldy, and she’s bringing her unique lens on life to the Adam Smith Theatre for her debut exhibition. Like many, Cath’s life took a sharp turn during the lockdown. She was working full-time but found that the isolation of working from home, tethered to a makeshift desk and glued to multiple screens, left her longing for connection. Rather than feeling liberated by the change, Cath was struck by a sense of disconnection and confinement. So, she decided to make a brave leap into something she had always felt drawn to—creativity and photography. Trading her old job for full-time education, she enrolled in a Photography course at Fife College. Now, after diving into her studies and experimenting with new techniques, Cath is excited to share her work with the public for the first time outside of the classroom.

The play tells a story of grief and the crisis of faith in our society, channelled through the story of one generous, energetic, perceptive, ashamed and very Presbyterian individual, the Reverend Gideon Mack of Monimaskit. A story of late 20th century Scotland, a story of a minister who doesn’t believe in God. Then he meets the Devil.

Sharing his personal story, he uses his extraordinary abilities to connect with the spirit world, bringing forward direct messages from the other side.
