SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK® is a powerful and unique concert entity that fuses the elastic 360-degree possibilities of the human voice with a theatrical flair that keeps avid audiences returning for more year after year. Kinetic, cultured and connected, this internationally renowned Grammy Award-nominated female a cappella vocal quartet has a history of over four decades of distinguished service. They have created positive, loving, and socially conscious message music that matters as it pertains to spiritual fortification, and consistently taken an activist stance toward making this planet a better place for all to live. Thus, the theme of the group’s 24th recording: #LoveInEvolution, SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK®’s first studio album in nine years and most contemporary project to date.

Celebrated Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt brings her elegant technique and musicality to Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, a kaleidoscope of melodic drama and charm, while Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony transports listeners to the hauntingly beautiful misty moors and rustic landscapes of Scotland.

Gazpacho, anyone? A musical adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar’s beloved film of the same name, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is the brainchild of the talented team behind Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. At the centre is Pepa, whose friends and lovers are blazing a trail through 1980’s Madrid. Along with Pepa, there’s her missing (possibly philandering) lover, Ivan; his ex-wife of questionable sanity, Lucia; their son, Carlos; Pepa’s friend, Candela and her terrorist boyfriend; a power-suited lawyer; and a taxi driver who dispenses tissues, mints, and advice in equal proportion. This unique production will be presented in concert format, performed with an orchestra and a dance ensemble.

Kamyar, a talented musician born in Tehran and raised in Paris, is celebrated for his multilingual singing and mastery of instruments like piano and bass guitar. Rising to fame as the lead singer of the Persian pop band Black Cats, he later built a successful solo career with over 50 songs and three albums. Kamyar has performed alongside icons such as Stevie Wonder and Googoosh, gracing stages like the Hollywood Bowl and Dolby Theatre. A coach on The Voice Persia and a mentor to select celebrities, Kamyar continues to inspire through his passion for music.

The University of Toronto Faculty of Music presents A Celebration of Black History Through Music featuring the University of Toronto Faculty of Music Gospel Choir.

Led by founding director and Juno Award-winning music educator, Dr. Darren Hamilton, the U of T Faculty of Music Gospel Choir was featured in three CBC Radio documentaries that aired throughout 2024 and performed at the 2024 Toronto Jazz Festival.
