The Wedding Present

The Wedding Present is not an artistic organization such as a venue or theatre, but rather a British indie rock band formed in 1985 in Leeds, England. The band was originally composed of David Gedge (vocals, guitar), Peter Solowka (guitar), Keith Gregory (bass), and Shaun Charman (drums). Known for their jangly guitar sound and Gedge's distinctive voice, The Wedding Present quickly gained a cult following. They achieved critical acclaim with albums such as 'George Best' (1987) and 'Bizarro' (1989). The Wedding Present is notable for releasing a single every month in 1992, equaling Elvis Presley's record for most UK Top 30 singles in a single year. Since its formation, the band has undergone numerous lineup changes, but Gedge has remained the consistent driving force behind the ensemble. The Wedding Present continues to perform and release music, cherished for their contribution to the indie rock scene.
