The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) is a premier cultural venue located in the heart of New Brunswick's Downtown Cultural Arts District. This significant urban development initiative represents a major investment in the region's cultural landscape, with more than $170 million poured into the project. The NBPAC stands as a testament to the power of public-private partnerships, having been brought to fruition through the collaboration of multiple stakeholders, including DEVCO, the City of New Brunswick, Middlesex County, Pennrose, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), the New Brunswick Cultural Center, Rutgers University, and the New Brunswick Parking Authority. The center officially opened its doors to the public, bringing with it a new era of performing arts to the region. The NBPAC is home to two state-of-the-art theaters: the Elizabeth Ross Johnson Theater and the Arthur Laurents Theater. These venues are designed to host a wide range of performances, providing both audiences and performers with an exceptional theatrical experience. In addition to the theaters, the center boasts dedicated rehearsal studios and collaborative workspaces that serve arts organizations throughout the region. The NBPAC is not just a hub for the performing arts; it also includes 207 residential rental apartments, integrating living spaces with cultural experiences, and it offers public parking, increasing accessibility for visitors. The center's strategic location and facilities make it a cornerstone for entertainment, culture, and community engagement in New Brunswick. For those interested in attending performances, the NBPAC's box office operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and can be contacted at 732.745.8000 or via email at boxofficenbpac.org. The box office also opens one hour prior to showtime for will-call services when there are scheduled performances. Overall, the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center is a vibrant addition to New Jersey's cultural scene, offering a diverse array of performances and serving as a catalyst for the continued growth and development of the arts within the community.
