During this graduation concert, I present my second sound work within the project Sawmill Memories. During my two years on the master's program, I have worked to find ways to tell the story of my grandfather's family and their life in the sawmill village of Båtskärsnäs in Norrland. Through the history of Båtskärsnäs, we can understand the darkest abilities of capitalism. It describes how capitalism can move mountains, people and societies to achieve growth. It also tells the story of people who, through collective actions, resist.

In Piano Vision's masterclass series, the audience meets the concert series' pianists in a teaching situation together with piano students. The masterclass is dedicated to teaching and discussions about, among other things, the works played in the concert series. Piano technique, interpretation and sound processing are some of the areas that will be addressed. Thanks to the large-screen sheet music on the wall and proximity to the grand pianos and pianists, the audience has the opportunity to easily follow along in the musical workshop.

A musical journey through works that speak to the soul's struggles, dreams and transformations.

Each piece reflects deep emotions - Mozart's Sonata in A minor filled with chaos, Scriabin's music full of mystery and passion, and Liszt's Vallée d'Obermann, a story of search and transformation. Scriabin in particular holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to sharing his world of mystery and rapture with listeners.

KMH Vocal Ensemble sings music by Caroline Shaw, Benjamin Britten and others

In this concert we will enjoy Caroline Shaw's "Partita for 8 Voices" - a work that earned Shaw the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in Music in 2014. Furthermore, we will encounter the suggestive sound of Irish composer Michael Alcorn in the work "A Slow Dance" for four soloists and electronics.

Etudes, Studies, Practices! with the piano class

After three years of jazz studies, pianist Simon Dluzewski graduates from the Royal Academy of Music.

In his thesis, Simon has composed new music for jazz piano trio + soprano saxophone with inspiration from Bulgarian choral music and the Greek rebetika tradition. The music will be premiered during the graduation concert on April 2 in Lilla Salen. With jazz as a starting point, Simon paints with a distinct and very personal tonal language. His music is rhythmically driven and plays with odd periods, time signature changes, and complex dynamics. Lyrical parts coexist with fast-paced sections in a music that, in its strong artistic focus, touches and lingers.

A concert with a focus on melodic expression, from a trumpeter's perspective.

Together with his quartet, Axel presents a concert with a repertoire consisting of both jazz standards and original music. The focus is on melodic expression, where each song is given space to convey emotion and presence. In his thesis, Axel has studied the phrasing of jazz vocalists with the goal of allowing the trumpet to come as close to pure human expression as possible.

Trumpeter Erik Palmenäs will be giving a graduation concert with his newly formed decette. Classics by Gillespie, Walton and Shorter are promised.

In his thesis, Erik has studied and analyzed the trumpet playing of bebop icon Dizzy Gillespie. To pay tribute to him, Erik has put together a decette and written arrangements inspired by Gillespie's big band. They will perform some of Gillespie's compositions as well as other gems by, among others, Wayne Shorter and Cedar Walton.

Arrangement for Sextet and Nonet setting inspired by One For All and Duke Pearson's Nonet.

Bands like Duke Pearson's Nonet and more contemporary groups like the New York-based sextet One For All arouse my curiosity about how the arrangers manage to make their music sound so full and big. Through careful analysis, I have tried to understand the harmonic thinking of these arrangers and see patterns in how they write. The result is five of my own arrangements for sextet and nonet settings. Welcome!

The sky-high music of Olivier Messiaen's "Chants de terre et de ciel" meets Gustaf Nordqvist's tender song cycle "Jorden". Together they weave together into a contrasting program about heaven, earth, childhood and otherworldly love.

KMH Brass and Percussion combine for a concert of classical original works for ensemble by Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber and Usko Meriläinen along with two of the most famous arrangements for Brass by Elgar Howarth from William Walton's Spitfire Prelude and Fugue and Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

With a large children's choir, we want to celebrate music and the value of being able to meet and sing together.

Welcome to this year's Libravoice Live concert. This year we are visited for the second time by children from Farsta Elementary School with Adolf Fredrik's Music Classes who sing songs on the theme of friendship together. The choir is accompanied by eminent musicians from the Royal Academy of Music and by one of Sweden's foremost Jazz trombonists, Karin Hammar. As emcee we see none other than David Sundin.
