The Radio Jazz Group – now finally in Gothenburg – together with their artistic director Nils Landgren in a concert entirely dedicated to the legendary trombonist Eje Thelin and his music.

The concert's main number is the suite "Raggruppamento", a kind of closing of Eje Thelin's musical life. Eje's unique, virtuoso and melodious trombone playing is carried on here by Nils Landgren - a very worthy heir who himself found great inspiration in his meetings with Eje and was in the orchestra when the Radiojazzgruppen last played the music in the late 80s. The music is consistently lyrical and very well composed and goes from ballads to beats to real swing. Joy of playing all the way during an evening that will leave an imprint in jazz history.

After Seong-Jin Cho won the Musikfestspiele audience’s hearts during the past season with his piano recital at the Palais im Großen Garten, the exceptional South Korean pianist returns to Dresden with an orchestra and one of the jewels of piano literature: Chopin’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1 in E-minor. Inspired by his first love, Konstancja Gładkowska, Chopin used the entire spectrum of sonic possibilities his instrument offered, opening up all-new emotional and musical dimensions for himself and subsequent performers. A rich orchestral sound is guaranteed by the Göteborgs Symfoniker, founded in 1905 and appointed the Swedish National Orchestra in 1997.

In some circles David Urwitz is almost an institution, in others he is completely unknown. In 2005 David debuted with the album “Det var väl inget mer med det”. An album that received a highest grade in Göteborgs-Posten and got nice reveiws in both Norway and Sweden. Over the years, David has regularly released albums and toured. In Norway, he has had a smash hit with the song Hos mig. In Sweden, he has collaborated and toured with, for example, Peter LeMarc, Caroline af Ugglas and Eldkvarn. In 2025, Urwitz released a new album. His ninth in the series. 
A little curiosity is that David holds the record for the one who has the most songs that have challenged on the Swedish top (Svensktoppen) without making it onto the list itself.

South Korean violinist Clara-Jumi Kang performs Lalo’s passionate violin concerto Symphonie Espagnole. Ryan Bancroft also conducts the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in Anders Hillborg’s Beast Sampler, where the orchestra forms a strong, vivid organism. Finally we hear the epic symphony No 1 by Mahler, the Titan.

South Korean violinist Clara-Jumi Kang was a star already as a child, and has visited Sweden on several occasions. At this guest performance she presents the beautiful violin concerto Symphonie Espagnole. French Édouard Lalo composed the concerto around the same time that Bizet’s opera Carmen premiered in Paris, with the same passionate Spanish sound. Audiences received both with great enthusiasm. Later, Tchaikovsky found inspiration from Lalo to compose his own masterful violin concerto.
