Their Christmas concerts are among the musical highlights in Berlin  — now the brass players of the renowned Konzerthaus Orchestra are making their way to Ulrichshusen! Prizewinner in Residence Anastasia Kobekina will crown her summer in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with a joint concert with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under Chief Conductor Stanislav Kochanovsky. And when you say "cello," you ultimately have to say "Elgar"—thus, the cellist bids farewell to the festival summer and the audience in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with the nostalgia and romantic brilliance of Edward Elgar's famous last great work.

Stories of animals and humans, bursting with humor and imagination—for this evening, the art of recitation enters into a pact with chamber music. Actress Katja Riemann and her piano and violin colleagues present two texts by the much too young deceased Roger Willemsen. Willemsen's story "Carnival of the Animals" will be performed alongside Camille Saint-Saëns' musical classic of the same name. The artists will also combine "Das müde Glück," another idiosyncratic text by the clever author, with music by Stravinsky , Saint-Saëns , and others .

The tough Danish pirate quartet, along with helmsman Stephan, hoist the sails and set sail—there's a treasure to be discovered! The adventurous journey takes the rugged group to the coasts of Ireland and England, as well as to the Danish islands of Fanø and Lolland. With a mix of classical pieces and folk music, the Captain, the One-Eyed Man, the Sea Lion, and the Crazy Cook tell of life on the seven seas and the hunt for the pirate treasure—supported by the chatterbox of Helmsman.

Inselmusik 2025 brings together experienced and young chamber musicians who will immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the island of Rügen for three days of music-making. For this concert, the prizewinner in residence invited a soul mate, whose school was not only classical music but also jazz. When Johanna Summer plays Schumann, it leaps into the present in the pianist's hands thanks to her improvisational skills. "I'm interested in reaching a state of consciousness in which I can let the source of my music bubble," says the pianist. This was a perfect opportunity for Anastasia Kobekina—and so the two teamed up and, in addition to Schumann , also performed works by Fauré and Bach .

It's been 30 years since a young cellist introduced himself to the festival audience in the then brand-new "Young Elite" series—the rest is a (shared) success story. Today, Daniel Müller-Schott returns as a global star with the program he selected for his first appearance in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 1995. "Bach, Prokofiev, Brahms—that was my first concert here. Afterwards, artistic director Matthias von Hülsen came and said he loved it so much... The following year, I played the opening concert in Wismar as a prizewinner. That was the starting point for the friendship and long-standing collaboration we now enjoy," the musician recalls.

Born in Paraguay in 1995, raised in Spain, and eventually moving to Japan, Michiaki Ueno, a true globetrotter, is a guest at the Orangery in Neustrelitz. In this architectural gem designed by none other than Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the cellist, who has won awards at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition, among others, will be on stage with his piano partner, Tomoki Kitamura. The two will be dedicated to 19th-century music: the program includes works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and Richard Strauss.
