The tough Danish pirate quartet, along with helmsman Stephan, hoist the sails and set sail—there's a treasure to be discovered! The adventurous journey takes the rugged group to the coasts of Ireland and England, as well as to the Danish islands of Fanø and Lolland. Today, Daniel Müller-Schott returns as a global star with the program he selected for his first appearance in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 1995. "Bach, Prokofiev, Brahms—that was my first concert here. Afterwards, artistic director Matthias von Hülsen came and said he loved it so much... The following year, I played the opening concert in Wismar as a prizewinner. That was the starting point for the friendship and long-standing collaboration we now enjoy," the musician recalls.

In this architectural gem designed by none other than Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the cellist, who has won awards at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition, among others, will be on stage with his piano partner, Tomoki Kitamura. The two will be dedicated to 19th-century music: the program includes works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and Richard Strauss.

At an atmospheric picnic in Schwiessel Castle Park, the clarinetist and his trio will entice the audience to dream, inviting them to let their thoughts fly on the wings of music. "Lisboa," "Magnolia," "Sunscreen," and "Marrakesh" are the names of the pieces on the new program: a cinematic experience that revives the scents and sounds of days gone by, making the evenings unforgettable.

Cycling from stage to stage in and around Schwerin and giving your ears a treat: This is the bicycle concert. Music resounds everywhere! Classical music with the Pacific Quintet, violinist Andrea Cicalese, and accordionist Antonio del Castillo; fine jazz with the Hanse Jazz Quintet; music from the golden 1920s with the Astoria Salon Orchestra; fiery tango with mezzo-soprano Itziar Lesaka and pianist Friedemann Braun; a cappella pop with Quintense; a percussion fireworks display by and with BundesBeat; musical comedy with Carrington-Brown; and much more. The children's and family stage invites young cyclists to listen and marvel. The crowning finale: a performance by the Dutch ensemble Fuse.

Our three newly crowned award winners are already among the superstars of the young classical music scene, having earned our coveted awards last summer as part of the "Young Elite" program. They will now present themselves to the audience in the gala concert, both together and as soloists. We say: Welcome to the festival family!

There's plenty of fun for all ages this afternoon! The ingredients: lively brass music, charming puppetry, and a little bit of Low German. Starring: five musicians and a sick crane named Calypso.

The five-part grand celebration at the E-Werk kicks off with a Schwerin institution: the ffortissibros. The men's chamber choir, founded in 2019 at the state capital's Goethe-Gymnasium, is making a name for itself as an a cappella ensemble nationwide and congratulates the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival with a brilliant program.
