Palmieri's professional career as a pianist took off with several bands in the early 1950s. And in 1961, Palmieri formed his own band, La Perfecta, which featured an unconventional front line of trombones instead of the trumpets customary in Latin orchestras. This created an innovative sound that blended American jazz with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, surprising critics and fans alike. Palmieri disbanded La Perfecta in 1968 to pursue different musical projects, though he would return to the band's music in the 2000s.

Adalberto, now in his 80s, continues to record and perform in the US, Europe, and South America. In 2022 he recorded a Trap / Reggaeton style song "Quitate" with noted rappers Jon Z. and Nengo Flow. His discography is at 100 and counting. He is celebrating more than 60+ years as a professional musician. He resides in his native Puerto Rico and in New York City. His nephews Johnny Rivera and Tony Vega are also notable salsa singers.

Los Van Van are widely recognized as a genre-creating band. Alongside artists like the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, Los Van Van are distinguished as a band that changed the course of popular music for an entire generation.

On Saturday, April 8, 2023 see The Jewels of Cuban music: Multi-latin grammy award winners Orquesta Aragon and El Septeto Nacional Ignacio Pineiro.
Orquesta Aragon are a popular charanga band hailing from Cuba. Their distinctive sound is based on traditional son with its African rhythm section and Spanish melodies, over which they added three violins. Orquesta Aragon were not only popular as interpreters of son, but are also credited with inspiring New York mambo. They can be heard performing on That Cuban Cha-Cha-Cha and in collaboration with Beny More and Perez Prado on Riverside Years.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents touring initiative provides an affordable opportunity to present great jazz programming, featuring up-and-coming musicians who have been identified as rising stars by JALC. The initiative also allows for expansion of the mission of JALC “to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education, and advocacy.”
Songs We Love was first presented as the 2016 Season Opener at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Songs We Love is a journey through the first 50 years of jazz song. Under the musical direction of Riley Mulherkar, 3 guest vocalists will join an all-star band made up of New York’s rising stars. Combining their distinct talents, the group will sing their way through four decades of music, beginning with the early blues and jazz of the 1920s and ending in the early 1950s. Iconic singers to be explored include Ma Rainey, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland.

Afro-Cuban All Stars is a unique orchestra that has always been devoted to promoting the full range of Cuban music, one that embraces several generations and all musical styles. Over the years many of the band’s musicians have become international stars, including brilliant performers such as Ruben Gonzalez, Ibrahim Ferrer, Guillermo Rubalcaba, Amadito Valdes and Manuel “The Guajiro” Mirabal.
After years of success – including four Grammy nominations, being the subject of several documentaries and films, and recipients of many other distinctions – the All Stars are certainly one of the best-known and successful Cuban orchestras along with Los Van Van and Irakere.

The Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, based in the medieval city of Lviv, was officially established on September 27, 1902 and in 1933, the orchestra became incorporated as the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine.

Ain’t Misbehavin’ is a musical revue with a book by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr., and music by various composers and lyricists as arranged and orchestrated by Luther Henderson. It is named after the song by Fats Waller (with Harry Brooks and Andy Razaf), “Ain’t Misbehavin'”.
The musical is a tribute to the black musicians of the 1920s and 1930s who were part of the Harlem Renaissance, an era of growing creativity, cultural awareness, and ethnic pride, and takes its title from the 1929 Waller song “Ain’t Misbehavin'”. It was a time when Manhattan nightclubs like the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom were the playgrounds of high society and Lenox Avenue dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing. Five performers present an evening of rowdy, raunchy, and humorous songs that encapsulate the various moods of the era and reflect Waller’s view of life as a journey meant for pleasure and play.

Grupo Niche is a Colombian salsa orchestra formed in 1980, recognized by critics and the public alike as the most successful in Latin America during the last four decades. It was started in the city of Bogotá by Jairo Varela Martínez, a native of the department of Chocó. With the passage of time and in search of inspiration, they decided to travel to the city of Buenaventura on the Colombian Pacific coast, and finally, in 1983, they settled in Cali, in the western region of the country, which would become their base of operations.

EL PARRANDÓN DE LA GRAN MANZANA, is a double celebration concert welcoming the arrival of the Christmas Season and the long awaited REUNION of the original founders of La Gran Manzana - Víctor Roque and Henry Hierro, as well as the leading members; Willy Gomez, Pablo Martinez, Victor Brito and Tony Valdez!
For more than 40 years, La Gran Manzana has represented New York City as the most complete Merengue Orchestra. It is a great honor that, after a brief absence from the stage, they are once again reunited to perform at Lehman Center for a one of a kind concert.
