Through music, we reflect on the impact of Hurricane Helene, one year later. This program features: the world premiere of Sinfonietta Helene by Asheville-based composer Jay Sanders; Iman Habibi’s Jeder Baum spricht, which is inspired by the beauty of nature and the impact of climate change; and local composer Phillip Rhodes’s Concerto for Bluegrass, a nod to the resilience of WNC. Explore intriguing destinations while ensconced among the verdant hills of Souther Williams Vineyard.  During the prelude to our concert the vintner will guide us through wine pairings while delectable plates are served and uniquely stylized jazz is performed.

Our 25th Anniversary Season Finale, part of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra’s bi-annual festival: “The Art of Storytelling,” spans genres of jazz and classical in a highly collaborative program. Two exciting works by Leonard Bernstein - Prelude, Fugue, and Riffs and Symphonic Dances from West Side Story - will bookend a beautiful, lyrical piece for jazz quartet and orchestra, Mom by Asheville-based composer Richard Shulman. The program concludes with the glorious Beethoven Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral.” BRO’s Season Finale is generously sponsored by Ingles.

The Blue Ridge Orchestra (BRO) celebrates a quarter-century of musical excellence with Music Director Dr. Emily Mariko Eng leading their triumphant 25th Season Finale. This performance features Leonard Bernstein’s vibrant Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony No. 6, and works by acclaimed Asheville composer Richard Shulman, bringing together the innovative sounds of a jazz ensemble with the rich tapestry of a full orchestra.

The Blue Ridge Orchestra continues celebrating its 25th Anniversary Season with two performances of “March Melodrama”. Franklin Keel, Asheville’s talented musician, cellist, & composer who has made several solo appearances with the BRO, will lead the orchestra as Guest Conductor.
