Watchhouse, the North Carolina based duo of Andrew Marlin & Emily Frantz, have announced a new studio album called Rituals, due out May 30, 2025 via Tiptoe Tiger Music / Thirty Tigers. The collection marks the pair’s first release of all new, original songs since their 2021 self-titled album, which earned praise from Rolling Stone (“pristine acoustic picking collides with hazy, dream-like psychedelia”) Mojo, NPR Music, American Songwriter and more.

From playing coffee shops in Chapel Hill, NC, to selling out legendary venues like Red Rocks and the Ryman Auditorium, Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz have earned a reputation for creating music that encompasses the unknowable mysteries, existential heartbreak, and communal joys of modern life. Since changing their band name from Mandolin Orange—which, for many, was synonymous with North Carolina music—to Watchhouse in 2021, the folk duo say they’re experiencing a “clean re-entry into the world.”

Over a year after Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz of Watchhouse (formerly known as Mandolin Orange) reintroduced themselves on their 2021 self-titled LP, the pair shared a special surprise release: Watchhouse (Duo), a self-produced recording of Marlin and Frantz performing the most elemental possible arrangements of all nine songs from Watchhouse. It’s a project that captures the fundamental power of Watchhouse: two singers and musicians with profound chemistry, performing earnest yet masterfully crafted songs that encompass the unknowable mysteries, existential heartbreak, and communal joys of modern life.

Part of the American Acoustic Tour, the evening features Punch Brothers, Thile’s folk ensemble, performing alongside the Americana duo Watchhouse and bluegrass singer-songwriter Sarah Jarosz.
