"'Kalthoum' is a tribute to women who changed the course of history and whose art continues to impact our lives today," says Lebanese-French jazz trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf about his album, which he dedicated to the great Egyptian vocal diva Umm Kulthum. The "Maria Callas of the Orient" remains unforgettable in the Arab world, even fifty years after her death. "Kulthum is the voice I've listened to most since my early childhood," recalls Maalouf.
