The Indiana Wind Symphony’s “Chanson Française” concert presents a complete miniature symphony characterized by elegance, delicacy, and sweetness. The first movement begins with a slow introduction reminiscent of Haydn, followed by an Allegretto in sonata form. The second movement highlights the addition of a solo flute. The scherzo that follows is based on a hunting theme and leads into a lively finale in the fourth movement, bringing the symphony to a spirited close.

This concert will also feature guest soloist Doreen Ketchens, known as the “female Louis Armstrong” for her passionate performing style in Gospel, Blues, Jazz and more.

This year’s program honors the sacred and secular aspects of Christmas and includes pieces for those celebrating Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. In addition to the music, the concert will showcase guest soloist Charessa Lawson, offer an audience sing-along, and include an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The concert invites musicians and attendees to reflect, recognize, and come together to celebrate the history, dedication, service, and lives of those individuals intricately woven into our nation's fabric, especially those in our armed forces.

The German composer Franz Wüllner first introduced "Serenade" in 1882. That same year, conductor Richard Strauss showcased the orchestral work in a Dresden performance, attracting the attention of renowned conductor Hans von Bülow, who played a role in advancing Strauss’s career. While “Serenade” has a classical formal structure, its melodic content hints at vibrant themes rich with passion and lyricism, which Strauss explores in his later works.

“Our Beautiful World” concert will showcase a repertoire that celebrates various cultures, the beauty of our world, the majesty of the Earth, and the gift of music. This concert features the original motion picture soundtrack of the Universal Pictures film "The Sugarland Express," a collaboration between Steven Spielberg and John Williams.

Hometown Celebration (Carmelfest 2025)

“Suite Dreams” is a concert showcasing a blend of sweet treats and dances, featuring compositions from various artists, notably composer Steven Bryant’s piece titled “Suite Dreams.” This work mainly reinterprets the inverted chaconne melody found in Gustav Holst's “First Suite in E-Flat,” presenting it with a dreamlike quality, as if fragmented memories of the original drifted across the stage.
