Emmy Award Winning Choreographer Al Blackstone joins forces with Giordano Dance Chicago to create a World Premiere theatrical one-act extravaganza. Blackstone is known for his work on both stage and screen, and he became a household name with his success on So You Think You Can Dance. With a deep love for jazz dance, Al’s character-driven choreography seeks to remind us of the beauty and fragility of being alive.

Giordano Dance Chicago’s 60th anniversary celebration continues with a world premiere from Kia Smith, Executive Artistic Director of South Chicago Dance Theatre (HT Resident Company) featuring an ensemble comprised of GDC and SCDT artists. A first collaboration of its kind in GDC’s 60-year history proudly brings community to the forefront in honor of Homer Hans Bryant for his lifetime of contributions to the dance world locally and globally. The evening includes dynamic GDC audience favorites proving why the Chicago Tribune heralded them as “American jazz dance royalty.” On Saturday, April 1, the Company holds its 60th Anniversary Gala on the Pritzker Pavilion stage overlooking Millennium Park immediately following the evening’s performance. Gala tickets are sold separately and will be on sale through the Giordano office in early 2023.
