Humor, pain, joy, and suffering: Contrasting moods characterize the incredibly broad expressive palette of  Schumann's chamber music. Trio No. 1 remains one of his most important works.  Schumann impressively implements the paradigm "Through night to light," which  had already inspired Beethoven in his Eroica Symphony. This highly Romantic composition, interpreted by the three world-class musicians Vilde Frang, Maximilian Hornung, and Denis Kozhukhin, sounds particularly stirring and triumphantly radiant  . And  Schumann's two other, far too rarely performed piano trios lend this exquisite evening a musical  arc full of drama yet exquisite intimacy.
