Young People's Musical Theatre Company (YPTMTC) was founded by Diane Price, a San Francisco native and seasoned performer, in the early 1980s. Diane, who began her stage career before the age of two, studied theater arts at the University of California, Berkeley, and performed professionally for over two decades. Her vision for a musical theatre program for children and teens materialized while she was teaching tap dance for the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. YPTMTC has since become a significant platform for young performers, producing numerous shows and impacting the lives of many teenagers. The organization is supported by Friends of the Company, a non-profit that manages its productions. Diane Price retired in 2005, leaving behind a legacy of nurturing young talent in the performing arts. Notable alumni include Lena Hall, a Tony Award-winning actress, who credits YPTMTC with being a formative influence in her career.
