Louis de Geer konsert & kongress

With the operetta The Patch by Johann Strauss the Younger, you get a real Epiphany treat to enjoy. The fact that a large ensemble of young Swedish singers also participates only makes the experience even more exciting. This operetta also has everything - beautiful arias, languid waltzes, happy polkas and a completely wacky plot. Here, everyone tries to be someone other than they are, and everyone wants to come to Prince Orlofsky's party. The maid Adéle disguises herself as a fine lady, Dr. Falke becomes the Marquis Renard, Eisenstein, who should actually be in prison, is suddenly free, and his wife Rosalinda appears as a seductive Hungarian countess. The prison warden, who has also arrived, introduces himself as Chevalier Chagrin. Everything ends, as you can imagine, in complete chaos, and everyone ends up in the dumps. But it is wonderfully funny, and with music that lives on for a long time afterwards.

A musical fairy tale with the best of both worlds: The music from Tchaikovsky's classic Christmas fairy tale The Nutcracker meets street dancers in a wonderful performance for young and old children, choreographed by Pascal Behnan with the dance company Legacy Family from Hageby Hus.

Johann Sebastian Bach wrote his Musikalisches Opfer in 1747. It is a series of intricate variations on a theme he had received from Frederick the Great of Prussia during a visit to Potsdam. Here we have chosen one of the many movements, in an orchestration by the composer Anton Webern.

Bach, Beethoven and Brahmsare sometimes called the three big B's of classical music. In the past, this could result in three plaster busts, which stood a little wobbly lined up on a piano. In this program, we will hear music by all three.

Classic giants

With this program, the orchestra wants to give its audience a real Christmas present. In the program, we have tried to collect the most beautiful Christmas melodies and the most famous Christmas songs. Everything from Sibelius' Christmas Carol, Koppången and Klang min vackra bjällra , to Sleigh Ride and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, which are also included in the program. To help us, we have Norrköping-born Olle Persson as soloist and the choirs Bel Canto and Musikaliska Sällskapets Kammarkör. It almost couldn't get better. Here you really get the chance to fill up on all the energy and Christmas spirit needed for the holidays.

Sound and cheers

We open the gates and invite both children and adults to activities from 12:00 to 14:40 in the concert hall. There will be, among other things, a craft workshop, a walk behind the stage, the opportunity to try out instruments and a Christmas tree robbery with a long dance. The day ends with a concert at 15:00 together with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. Free admission. A warm welcome!

The orchestra's day

Icelandic music does not appear very often on concert programs. However, in recent years, more and more contemporary Icelandic composers have begun to be performed around the world. Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir is one of them. This is the first time her music has been performed by the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra.

The Wish Concert is one of our most popular recurring concerts where the audience can wish for their favorites, both soloists and pieces of music. From all the suggestions we receive, we create a truly festive wish concert.

During the sports break, young musicians from all over the county gather and form the Sports Break Orchestra. Some of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra's musicians coach the young people. Hard rehearsal work results in a wonderful concert with well-known music from both classical masters, folk music and the world of film. Come and see and listen to the stars of the future!

Sports holiday orchestra

Schubert wrote nine symphonies but never got to hear them performed. The great C major symphony was not performed for the first time until ten years after Schubert's death. It was Robert Schumann who obtained the score during a visit to Vienna in 1838 and Schumann's friend Felix Mendelssohn who conducted the premiere in Leipzig in 1839. Today it is not so easy to understand that the musicians of the time considered the symphony too difficult to play and complicated, but with today's ears we can only sit back and enjoy all the beauty contained in this magnificent work.

Card classics: Schubert's 9th

Schubert wrote nine symphonies but never heard them performed. His great C major symphony was first performed in Leipzig in 1839 by Mendelssohn, after Schumann found the score in Vienna. At the time it was considered difficult to play, but today we enjoy its beauty. Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto was written almost 30 years earlier and premiered by himself in 1803. The concerto is very reminiscent of the introduction to Mozart's Twenty-fourth Piano Concerto in the same key, C minor. Beethoven knew and admired it well, and perhaps the introduction is a kind of homage to his great predecessor.

Petter is one of Sweden's most beloved and influential rappers. After over a decade, it is finally time for Petter and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra to meet again. Together with star conductor Hans Ek, they will perform symphonic interpretations from the iconic rapper's almost 30-year career. The concert is part of the tour that starts in Stockholm in January 2026 (sold out!) – then with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Music's language

Joseph Haydn probably couldn't imagine that one day you would be able to travel to the moon. Nevertheless, he wrote an opera about life there. Although it was actually just a joke by a lovesick amateur astronomer to marry the daughter of a curious older man. He was fooled anyway, and the opera ends happily, of course. Here you can hear the overture.

After only three performances, Mahler removed the Blumine movement from his first symphony. It had received bad reviews and other nasty comments. Perhaps it didn't fit in with the rest of the composition. But now we can enjoy this incredibly beautiful piece with the trumpet solo all by itself.

Next Generation

Spring has inspired many composers to write music. Perhaps it is precisely the awakening of nature that inspires creativity. Here we get to know two quite different spring feelings. Debussy's  Printemps  is more of a description of a spring-like inner awakening, while Boulanger's  D'un matin de printemps  is more concrete, with joy and anticipation when we have left darkness and cold behind us.

When Lisa Nilsson takes to the stage with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, an evening awaits where her unique voice meets the symphonic sound. The concert draws on a rich musical heritage and allows the audience to experience her songs in new, magnificent arrangements – both beloved classics and new music.

With his Spanish accent, Édouard Lalo also had a special feeling for Spain. We hear this in his exuberant and virtuoso violin concerto. Here, dramatic parts meet rhythmic flamenco motifs. Everything is mixed into an exuberant southern fiesta. The highly sought-after violinist Clara-Jumi Kang performs the concerto on a Stradivarius from 1702.

Join Maja in her fantastic world full of flowers, plants and letters. Maja and her friends take us on a journey of discovery through the alphabet with the help of children's book artist Lena Anderson's quirky alphabet verses and music by Kerstin Andeby.

Welcome to an exuberant family concert where hundreds of children sing together on De Geerhallen's large stage. There will be singing, music and dancing together with musicians from the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and teachers from the Kulturskolan. The Tvåornas Kör is an activity at the Kulturskolan that is aimed at all students in grade 2 in the municipality of Norrköping. Through choral singing, the students get to experience and work with the joy of singing, community, movement and learning. The concert is an opportunity to meet and feel joy and pride together in our fine concert hall.

The Norrköping Symphony Orchestra invites you to a Coffee Concert! The menu includes orchestral music, solo performances and gofika. The Coffee Concert is a wonderful musical experience for our functionally varying audience, and is especially aimed at group homes, day centers, special schools and training schools in the region.

Béla Bartók left his homeland of Hungary and emigrated to the United States in 1940. The war and the political situation in his homeland meant that he could not bring himself to stay in Europe. Nevertheless, he never felt at home in New York, where he settled. In the Third Piano Concerto, one can perhaps also trace a strong homesickness. Bartók's music is in many ways rooted in traditional Hungarian music, even though it has its own very personal musical language. This is also evident in the Third Piano Concerto, which, despite being written when the composer was ill with leukemia, has a bright and dance-like character. The concerto was the last work Bartók wrote, and he never got to experience the premiere in 1946.

Jealousy and hatred lead to a cruel and sudden death in the tragic opera Pajazzo  by Ruggiero Leoncavallo. The story is about a traveling theater company. Its leader Canio is constantly jealous of his wife Nedda. Many will surely recognize Canio's great aria Vesti la gioubba (Laugh Pajazzo). When it is time to perform the company's performance, Canio breaks down, this time in the guise of Pajazzo. In blind rage, he gives Nedda the option of giving him the name of her lover or death. Nedda refuses, and Canio stabs her and her lover who tries to save her. He is immediately arrested and shouts the famous words to the audience: La commedia è finita! (The comedy is over).
