Vara Konserthus

Vara, Sweden

Vara Concert Hall, located in the scenic Skaraborg plain of West Sweden, is a distinguished venue for the performing arts, inaugurated in September 2003 and designed by architect Kjell Hadin. Hosting nearly 200 events annually, it offers a diverse repertoire including classical music, jazz, pop, theater, and comedy, appealing to audiences of all ages. The hall is committed to enriching cultural experiences and collaborates with local schools, cultural organizations, and international stakeholders. It also serves as a venue for corporate events, enhancing experiences with locally-sourced culinary offerings. A notable aspect of its history is the collaboration with Bohuslän Big Band, one of Northern Europe's leading jazz ensembles, since 2004. This partnership has elevated the concert hall's prestige and enriched the Scandinavian jazz scene. Bohuslän Big Band, with origins dating back to the early 1800s, has performed with renowned artists like Quincy Jones and Gregory Porter and toured internationally. Additionally, the Next Generation Big Band, comprising young musicians up to 23 years old, is part of the hall's mission to support big band music, collaborating closely with Bohuslän Big Band. Vara Concert Hall's mission, supported by Vara Municipality and Västra Götaland Region, focuses on developing performing arts and fostering cultural engagement within the community.
