The Adirondack Trust Company Festival of Young Artists

Khan and Debopriya Chatterjee. Showcasing rich folk and classical traditions, this unique trio is comprised of tabla, sarangi, and bansuri (bamboo flute), a combination not often heard. This colorful mix, combined with Indian classical music and the rich rhythm repertoire of Punjab, makes for a compelling program.

BalletX will grace the Spa Little Theatre stage with a program true to their mission of expanding the vocabulary of ballet and featuring works by leading choreographers including Jorma Elo, Jamar Roberts, and Jennifer Archibald as well as a special collaboration with the students of the Skidmore College Dance Department.

In a celebration of instrumental odd couples, three duo teams highlight the extremes of possibility for their ensembles. Maurice Duruflé’s post-Romantic trio augments the duo format, and all join for the concluding Septet by virtuoso pianist Johann Hummel, who was a pupil of Mozart and Haydn and was admired by Beethoven.

Defying convention and boundaries, Time For Three stands at the busy intersection of Americana, modern pop, and classical music. In addition to their incredible arrangements of Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Led Zeppelin and others, the trio featuring Charles Yang (violin, vocals), Nicolas “Nick” Kendall (violin, vocals), and Ranaan Meyer (double bass, vocals), will present special arrangements of holiday favorites including The Christmas Song, Edelweiss, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and a special Hanukah MashUP.

Kat Edmonson is an award-winning songwriter and singer “with an equal foothold in jazz, cabaret and vintage cosmopolitanism pop” (The New York Times). Kat and her band will perform Yuletide favorites and originals for a magical holiday evening celebration.

Caffè Lena has been part of Darlingside’s growth ever since 2013, when they first played the legendary Saratoga venue as part of a mid-week Emerging Artist Breakout series. The ensuing years brought annual shows at Lena’s and the band began to gain national attention, with NPR describing Darlingside’s indie rock as “exquisitely arranged, literary minded, baroque folk-pop.” Their compositions are strikingly elegant, and the unity of their voices is beyond compare, garnering praise from Rolling Stone and The New Yorker and fueling the growth of a worldwide following. With a vigor and discipline more common to graduate-level writing workshops than to indie rock, Darlingside has, over the years, experimented with all manners of idiosyncratic methods for elevating and upholding a truly democratic process of songwriting – processes that include multiple rounds of group writing and recording exercises.

The GRAMMY-nominated Kings Return is back by popular demand following their SPAC debut last spring. The unique, harmonizing group turned internet sensation captures the essence of an old-school a cappella quartet with sounds inspired by gospel and R&B. Kings Return features tenor Vaughn Faison, bass Gabe Kunda, tenor JE McKissic, and baritone Jamall Williams. Their joyous We Four Kings program features pop, classical, and religious holiday classics, reinterpreting modern and classic pop (Michael Jackson, Simon & Garfunkel, BGs), soul (Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire), R&B (Frank Ocean, Leon Bridges), gospel (Kirk Franklin), jazz and sacred music.

Kings Return: We Four Kings

The GRAMMY® nominated vocal supergroup, säje, is the brainchild of vocalist/composers Sara Gazarek, Amanda Taylor, Johnaye Kendrick, and Erin Bentlage. Traversing a vast array of compelling original material, beloved jazz standards, and contemporary re-imaginings of artists such as The Bad Plus, YEBBA, and Björk, the all-female collective has demonstrated their devotion to thoughtful, sophisticated original compositions and heartfelt covers. Their highly anticipated debut album was just released, and features new original work and compelling covers, highlighting collaborations with artists Jacob Collier, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ambrose Akinmusire, and more.

Heralded by The New York Times for their “buoyant rhythm, blinding technique, (and) solid entertainment,” The Django Festival All Stars bring the hot jazz music from the 1920s and ‘30s to today. Their unique, high-energy performances combine known standards, while adding their own interpretations, arrangements, and original compositions. They are joined on the program by Hot Club of Saratoga.

This program features a celebration of Cuban and Latin rhythms with the ultimate showman, Alfredo Rodriguez, and his dynamic trio. Rodriguez creates a fusion of Latin, pop, timba, jazz, tango and funk that will transport you straight to the heart of Havana. His collective music chops will leave you breathless as you dance the night away at this pulsating fiesta of culture and sound.

Veronica Swift’s new eponymously titled album, her third for Mack Avenue Records, is a masterful coming-out story. On her previous albums, Confessions (2019) and This Bitter Earth (2021), she ascended to the upper echelon of early 21st century jazz singers because of her virtuosic brilliance, interpretive ingenuity, bracing songwriting, and keen arrangements. Swift is considered not only one of the most dazzling singers to emerge in her generation, but also one of the most versatile. Her performance will close the McCormack Jazz Series ’24-’25 season with her “transgenre” music concept that weaves between classic jazz, rock, funk, and even vaudeville accentuated by her signature stage presence.
