'''On Site Opera''' (OSO) is an innovative opera company based in New York City known for producing site-specific operas in non-traditional venues. The company has carved out a unique niche in the New York opera landscape by staging performances that immerse both the audience and the artists in the music and drama of the story, creating a seamless blend between the world of the opera and the audience's reality. History and Mission- Founded with the mission to produce site-specific productions, On Site Opera aims to enrich the cultural life of New York by bringing opera to new audiences and fostering emerging talent through performance and production opportunities. The company is committed to collaborating with local organizations and schools to build community relationships and reach new audiences. Additionally, OSO is dedicated to exploring new technology and production methods to minimize its environmental impact. Since its inception, OSO has produced operas in over a dozen unique venues, including performances of Shostakovich’s "The Tale of The Silly Baby Mouse" at the Bronx Zoo, Gershwin’s "Blue Monday" at the historic Cotton Club of Harlem, and Rameau’s "Pygmalion" at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, which incorporated Google Glass supertitles as a novel technological approach. Governance and Staff - On Site Opera is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a proud member of Opera America and the New York Opera Alliance. The company is led by General & Artistic Director Eric Einhorn and Music Director Geoffrey McDonald, with Piper Gunnarson serving as the Executive Director. The operational team includes Christopher Staub as the Director of Production and Pooja Saha as the Development & Operations Associate, among others. The governance structure of OSO includes a board of directors chaired by Jane A. Gross, with members contributing their expertise to the organization's development and strategic direction.
